Dom’s birthday party!

These past few weeks have been filled with lots of planning and getting everything together for Dom’s very important first birthday. Not to mention the 3 nights before the party I literally baked for up to 5 hours a night. I now have a hate relationship with cake pops. And no, I don’t want any advice, because I tried everything, and they still fell apart. Back to the party. My jumping off point was to get my new Friend daphne to make Dom a bunting flag banner with his name on it.

I took some yarn, and some clothespins I got from the dollar store, and made the 2 photo banners above and below the cake one to showcase his smash cake photo shoot.

I also picked up this banner from target, and just added the lettering with my chalkboard pens.

We also played a few games. I had a “pin the hat on the baby” game. I went to kinkos and asked for the $9 blown up black and white picture. They had me email them, and it was printed like 30 seconds later.

I just cut out some triangles from some construction paper, then taped the hats once the kids placed the hat.

We also had a selfie booth with lots of props. We just taped up some birthday wrapping paper. It was a huge hit! I asked the guests to post the selfies to Facebook, and whoever got the most likes, won!

The winner had over 200 likes! Such a great hit!

We also did a prediction game with Dom. It’s common in the Korean culture to set 5 items in front of a 1 year old, each representing a profession, and the baby picks one that he will grow up to be!

He chose doctor!! I guess we better start saving up for college. We got the guests involved by having them guess what he will choose. Then picking a winner from the doctor jar!

I also set up his sign and a time capsule at the entry. The time capsule was meant for the guests to write down some advice on a piece of paper and put in a jar to be opened up when he turns 18. It’s currently in our safe, and I can’t wait to read it with him on the 18th birthday!

I started planning this party about 4 weeks before the party. If I could do anything different it would be to plan the party in October, not the peak of the Christmas season. There was over 60 guests and 20 kids. It was so fun. I’m so glad I put in every effort to make the party special. And hopefully Dom can look back and see how great his 1st birthday party was!

Now to write the thank you cards!

Happy Birthday Dom!!!

Can you believe this little guy is 1 already!!!!!

We have a full blown birthday celebration on Sunday. But today was a mommy and Dom day. We went straight to build-a-bear.

We went first thing this morning, to avoid any crowds. And really let Dom take his time to enjoy build-a-bear. He chose the camo bear, and fitted him with a Happy Birthday shirt.

Dom loved the part where you stuff the bear and put a heart in the bear. He actually put 3 hearts in since once he got the hang of it, he wanted to do it over and over again.

And in my spare time this week I made Dom one of those chalkboard signs I have been seeing at all the baby birthday parties all over Facebook and Pinterest.

Happy Birthday to my baby boy! Mommy and Daddy love you very much!

Christmas will be here in a week!!

I am sooooo not ready for Christmas! But we have checked off some necessary holiday fun stuff.

Turkey trot! Check!

We’re hard core…hehe!

Christmas lights! Check!

And let’s be honest, the lights are the best part of Christmas.

Pictures with Santa! Check!

Dom hated it. We were going to try to get some more shots before Christmas, but we ran out of time! We have to work every day from now until Christmas.

A couple more paint nights! Check!

Ok guys, I know I have a problem, and it’s called attending too many paint nites. I have 2 more booked, 1 for jan, 1 for feb. They are just too fun!!!

Attend an ugly Christmas sweater party! Check!

We also had a cookie exchange, and it was seriously the most fun I’ve had in a really long time! With the exception of having to bake 13 dozen cookies. Never again!!

Christmas craft with baby feet! Check!

It kinda turned out cute! One is for me to keep and one is for my mom.

Planning Dom’s first birthday party amidst the crazy Christmas season! Check! I started with a smash cake photo shoot. The pictures turned out so good!

I have also recruited daphne to make a bunting flag banner. And planning on baking Dom’s birthday cake. Suggestions on amazing cake for a birthday???

How’s the holidays going for you guys? Is your Christmas shopping done? Have you hit up Santa?

Punta Cana!

I’m going to try to cram the entire trip into one post. (Remember hubs won this trip through his workplace.) It was basically a week of doing nothing but relaxing. Right when we got there, this view greeted us.

I don’t think my iPhone is giving this view justice, but it was a serious WOW! Moment.

The first night we were there our workplace had organized a mixer and a meet and greet. It was kind of awesome how down to earth the CEO and VP of the company were. They basically were just walking around and chatting it up. I’m sure I’ll never be in a comfortable setting like that again with them, so I just tried not to say anything stupid.

We had a few things we wanted to do whole we were there. I wanted to hit the gym every morning. Which I succeeded!

It was ridiculously muggy and humid there. That pic was taken at 7 am before the dew had set. I ran almost every day, and did a simple yoga stretch routine. It was great! And it was way too hot to run outside, but this was my view in the gym.

Yep, flamingos!! It was very surreal.

Our workplace had organized a floating island excursion.

This was so fun! We took some small boats out just far enough to hit some decently deep waters. There were cabanas set up for relaxing, massage therapists for a massage, and there were tons of activities to do like snorkeling, meeting a stingray, swimming with sharks, paddle boarding, and kayaking. I chose swimming with sharks. It was seriously one of the coolest moments of my life!!

We also celebrated my 31st birthday while we were there. We chose to make reservations at the 5 star Michelin restaurant at the resort. It was super duper fancy!

We chose to do what the chef was famous for, a tasting menu. It was 15 courses. Lots of “pre appetizers”, and “desserts”, then just a ton of the regular meal stuff.

It was definitely worth going! It was super rich, and fancy. And I’m glad that they looked past our jokes and awkwardness since we are not fancy or rich. Ha!

The other major high light of the trip was our adventure to MonkeyLand!!! It was a 6 acre compound that housed 22 very tiny monkeys. We got to spend a good hour with the monkeys and let them crawl all over us. Another amazing moment for all of us!

Last but not least, we went to an awards dinner where they presented hubs with a ring for his award. It was on the beach and we were barefoot.

I’m seriously so proud of my amazing husband. He works very hard to provide for our family, and it’s nice to be recognized for all of that hard work.

There were so many other amazing moments where we were just hanging at the pool or beach. We did some shopping and enjoyed some of the local cuisine, it truly was a once in a lifetime trip. It’s definitely a place we hope to visit again.

Almost time!

I will be leaving for Punta Cana in like 3 days. So much to do! So little time! I have been keeping super super busy.

Jessica and I went to a Black Keys concert, and it was awesome!

I heart seeing bands live! The opening act was jake Bugg. And I really liked his music. Very twangy, kind like Bob Dylan. Swoon!

I have been getting my vacay wardrobe together. I think I’m pretty much done, just need a few more accessories.

Old navy clearanced out a bunch of Capri length leggings and I scored 3 pairs. And I had to grab a few tops to go with them.

I also got this awesome shirt.

And some more tanks. I’m hoping it’s going to be warm the whole time I’m there.

I also snagged a couple of dresses for the formal dinners.

I’m hoping they will be fancy enough.

Off to run with Daphne!

New Running Buddy

Hey guys!

You know how I’m always trying to find a friend who is willing to run around my neighborhood with me? Well, I found a fren!!!

Meet Daphne!

She is super duper awesome and let’s me yammer on and on about all of my crazy thoughts while we are running. We have a standing date on Sunday and Wednesday mornings. I’m feeling super good about it, and I’m hoping I haven’t come across as a super needy annoying friend. You guys all know how OCD and need to know what’s up 24/7.

Today we went for a run for over 2 miles.

It was an awesome run! My legs are still sore from last Sundays hilly miles. All 2 of them.

And today we went with this guy.

He actually really likes going on the runs. It’s just a whole lot harder with pushing a stroller and all.

And here he is in his costume. He’s an owl not a turkey.

And one more, just because…

Have a great Halloween!

pile on the miles

Hey it’s almost that time of year again! It’s pile on the miles time! I have committed to piling on a few miles for November, and you should too!

I have committed to running 3 times a week. Right now I’m running 2 days a week, and I feel like adding an extra day would be a perfect goal to reach for with out getting too excited and re-injuring myself.

Head on over to
run eat repeat and sign up! It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress!

Here’s what I’ve been up to

Hey guys!!

Lately I have been obsessed with my master bedroom. I have de-cluttered and re organized most of my bedroom. It started with my bed. We bought a new bed, and needed new linens, and then snowballed into a pinteresty space that I am completely in love with!!

I still want to get some new curtains and new lamps, but it still feels so much lighter and luxurious.

I have also been getting at my work outs. I kind of had a “come to Jesus” talk with myself about the p90x3 workouts. I basically was dreading them and I kind of went into a depression for a second. However I pulled up my boot straps and got back to the bikini body work outs in the morning. Then in the evening I have been running!

My first love has always been running, and honestly this is exactly where I want to be for now, and maybe always.

I also have been tracking every calorie on MyFitnessPal, and I have lost 13lbs in about 3 weeks. I’m feeling amazing about that. My watch is a little looser and so are my pants. I think I’m still about 5-10 lbs from going down a size, and I have a pair of jeans that are about an inch away from fitting that I’m using as a gauge.

Some other amazing things have been happening like…

Dom turned 9 months old!!!

And he is full on crawling…

And lifting himself up to stand!

He’s so close to walking it’s not even funny.

And just because

I’m weighing in again tomorrow and I’m hoping for 2-4 lbs. I know I put in the work, so I shouldn’t worry about it.

78 days…

Hey guys! Happy Sunday!

My challenge starts tomorrow…

And yes this is a 90 day challenge, you are probably wondering why I labeled this post 78 days…

Well you know that hubs and I just got back from a week long work trip. And during that work trip we attended a ton shit ton of meetings. It was a solid 5 days of meetings with about 4 hours in there for some “fun times”. So on one of the nights there was this awards presentation. And one of the awards was about providing excellent customer service. Our company has a program where they call customers and they rate us, blah blah blah. It’s a big deal. Well there are over 1300 stores in the company, and they chose 30 general managers to win this coveted award for amazing customer service. And guess what??? Hubs won! Ya, he’s kind of really really amazing at his job. What did he win besides a sweet ring? He won a trip to the Dominican Republic for 6 days and I get to go with him!!! This is happening! And we get a butler, a dude to bring me hot towels and drinks by the beach. I am beyond excited!!! So the countdown is on 78 days until we go to this haven, and I would like to feel semi comfy in a bathing suit. And the pressure is on!

I got this!

Super Duper Epic Fail

Why did I think I could start an intense work out routine and new diet on the week that school started? I’m completely delusional. I really pushed Carlo to join the water polo team at his new high school, and he did! And practice starts at 5:30 in the AM!!! And he’s already made some really amazing friends. I guess it’s all worth it. It’s just really hard for me to figure out which comes first when I have to drop him off at school at 5:15 in the AM!! There was also a night with a parent meeting, and the reality of how much everything is going to cost set in.

I just went really wrong with the expectations of completing 1-1.5 hour work outs. It’s just too much time for my life where it’s at now. I need something shorter and just as challenging and that’s why I ordered p90x3. The work outs are only 30 minutes. Sounds pretty perfect for me! I like structure, and you can’t deny the results. I’m feeling really excited about this. And a co worker, who doesn’t have a child in high school or a 7 month old baby, wants to try p90x out. I’m kind of excited for them!

Diet has been just ok. I have been keeping up with a very healthy breakfast and lunch, and most of the time a good healthy dinner. I know I need to work on drinking more water. Often times I wake up dehydrated, and feeling kinda yucky.

Carlo has his first meet today, and I’m beyond excited for him. I can’t wait to hear all about it, send good thoughts his way!

And since this post is soooo wordy, here’s a pic of the baby.

And one of me and the hubs with the babe.

Does anyone else have p90x3? What do you think of it??
