Final Coutdown!

Today was my last run before the lucky run.


Vinny was super excited, and it only rained a little bit. However the forecast says that there is another storm a brewing. So it’s almost certain it will be raining all day Saturday. Can’t think too much about it. Here’s the deets of today’s run.


Post run I was going to do shoulders, arms, and triceps from p90x. However I was worried I couldn’t give my all since I didn’t want to be sore on Saturday. Last week that work out made my arms sore until Monday. No thank you. I opted to pause my p90x, and redo this week next week.

So I decided to do a video off my Comcast list. The longest one was the 40 min advanced mat by John Vitarelli. I hate his monotone voice, he also seems to have no personality. Kind of annoying.


The practice overall was more on the advanced side, and I felt like it was perfect for what I needed today. There were a ton of forward bends, and leg stretches. I felt pretty flexible and stretched out by the end of everything.

    I’ve finally got it through my head that I need to rest for at least a day before a race and maybe 2 depending on what my workouts have been like. Running my first half-marathon on Sunday and I did a long run Sunday, two boot camp workouts on Monday-Tuesday, rest on Wednesday, a short run this morning and I’ll do probably 5 miles tomorrow. Then I will rest on Saturday and hopefully I’ll have done all the right stuff to feel strong Sunday. Good luck on your race!

    Good luck on your run! I can’t say I run in marathons myself, I am more a weight lifter/ cross fitter. Although getting ready for commentitions or events has a pretty universal method.

    Week leading up; if the event was on a saturday, the Saturday before would be my last ‘best effort’ I would replicate the running conditions as much as possible. I.e use the running route of known.

    In the two days following that best effort I would foam roll the hell out of my legs, and do nothing else.

    On Tuesday I would complete half the distance of the event at around 70% of what I normally could.

    Again foam roll for the rest of the week.

    The week leading up I would increase good carbs In your diet like sweet potato and oats by

    It’s a good idea to taper the week before a race – but I think that that depends on whether you’re “running” the race or “racing” it. I’m running in a St. Patty’s Day Race on Saturday, but haven’t been tapering because I’m not going to push it. That said, I’ve got a couple upcoming races where I’m hoping for PBs – I’ll definitely be tapering for those.

    I just did that video this morning and I feel the same way! It really re-energized both my mind and body. What a great way to start the day! I’m bummed the video expires in 3 days šŸ˜¦

      It expires in 3 days? AWESOME! I hope Comcast gets more of a mix for next year. I have been very reluctant to buy yoga DVDs since in the past they were very good about selection. However this year it seems that they only have one or two instructors for each kind of exercise. I can’t wait to see what they come up with šŸ˜‰
